Acupuncture and Pregnancy
At a time when your body is undergoing major physiological changes in a relatively short period of time, and you can’t take drugs, oriental medicine is a minimally-invasive way of alleviating symptoms that commonly occur in pregnancy.
Even if you aren’t experiencing too much discomfort, studies have shown that treatment throughout pregnancy and particularly in the last weeks, can be beneficial to mother and baby.
When is acupuncture treatment recommended? It’s up to you: it’s good tune-up throughout your pregnancy, towards the end starting at week 36, for labor induction, and post-partum, especially for lactation issues and depression.
Acupuncture:
• Is safe and effective through all stages of pregnancy
• Facilitates a smoother labor and delivery
• Turns a mal-positioned fetus
• Useful for labor induction
• Post-partum for many issues that arise as a consequence of giving birth
Acupuncture is good for:
• morning sickness, heartburn
• sciatica, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and all other musculo-skeletal aches and pains
• depression, anxiety, stress
• constipation, hemorrhoids
• edema, pregnancy-induced hypertension
• sinusitis
• vaginal discharge and itching
• insomnia
• headaches
• colds and accompanying symptoms
• fatigue and exhaustion
