When you begin to feel a cold trying to take hold, here’s a home remedy you can quickly and easily do. It works 85 percent of the time, so it’s worth giving it a try.
Dried orange or tangerine peel – one handful
Rock sugar – 2 T, or to taste
Water – 1 ½ cups
Cook together in a small saucepan for 30 minutes, then strain out: it should yield one cup. Drink as soon as it cools. Repeat once or twice as needed.
Most people won’t have a supply of dried citrus peel – yet. As you eat your fruit, don’t throw away the peels. Instead, save them in a brown paper lunch bag. They will dry quickly. Once they are fully dry, you can store them in a jar, where they will keep for a long time.
