This Turmeric Chaser after-dinner treat that is as delicious as it is medicinal. It is mildly sweet and fatty, a tasty way to top off a clean, healthy meal
The main ingredient in this recipe is turmeric. Turmeric contains curcumin, which has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties and benefits cellular activity involved in these pathways to speed up the normal repair process.
Black pepper contains piperine, which are the compounds that give black pepper its pungent taste.
Piperine improves absorption of the curcumin, making this paste strong and effective, a “big bang for the buck.”
Recipe
Turmeric Chaser is simple to make and you make a batch that should last about 2 1/2 weeks in the fridge for 2 people.
Step 1 – Make the paste
Ingredients
• 1/4 cup of turmeric powder
• 1/2 teaspoon of ground pepper
• 1/2 cup of filtered water
Mix the ingredients in a small cooking pot and stir well. Turn the heat to a medium and mix constantly until the mixture becomes a thick paste. It does not take long to blend, so do not leave the stove. Let the mixture cool off, and then store it in a small jar, in the refrigerator.
Step 2 – Make the chaser
Step 1: Warm 1 cup of almond milk (rice, hemp, or coconut milk are also good options).
Step 2: Add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric paste to the warmed “milk” and stir until it’s dissolved.
Step 3: Add 2 teaspoons of coconut oil
Step 4: Divide in two, 4 ounce servings each.
Enjoy!
